Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro Review - Installation

Installation
Installing the Freezer 64 Pro is very simple. Remove your existing cooler from the motherboard. Sometimes the old heatsink may be stuck to the CPU. If it is, slightly rotate the heatsink a little to release the cooler. Clean off the CPU of any thermal paste or residue with a clean tissue.
All motherboards come with the stock AMD retention module. This is necessary for installation of this heatsink. If you do not have this, you should be able to purchase one from your dealer since they are provided to the distributors separately.

The Freezer 64 is installed on my DFI Lanparty UT Ultra D using the stock mounting bracket, the bottom 3 fins are clearly bent to blow air around the mosfets on most standard motherboards with the memory to the right of the CPU socket.
Align the Freezer in a standard ATX case in such a way that the fan blows the hot air to the back of the chassis. Most cases have ventilation holes or a case fan to ventilate exhausted air. Depending on your motherboard you have to rotate the clip by 90 degrees, to do so release the screw at the lever. Remove the lever and the two steel plates and install everything in the new position again.
Remove the plastic cap from the bottom of the cooler. Put the cooler onto the CPU and connect the clips of the coolers onto the hooks of the retention module. While making sure the clips are on the hooks of the retention module, fasten the levers as shown.

In the Silentium case, the Freezer 64 Pro blends in perfectly with its style and capability, the fan is blowing air towards the back of the chassis and the twin 80mm fans up top pull the additional exhausted air out.
Now the cooler should be fastened on the retention bracket firmly and should not be able to move. Make sure all cables inside the system are clear of the fan. Fixing them with cable ties is one of the best methods if you move your system around frequently. Attach your power plug to the CPU fan header on the motherboard and boot the system.

Check compatibility first. Memory with heat spreaders must be installed in my board before I can mount the heatsink, some compatibility issues may rise with some Nforce 3 boards that have the memory above the CPU.
