    AeroCool GateWatch Review - Pros/Cons

    • Attractive unique design
    • Large, easy-to read display
    • Selectable backlight colors
    • Analog volume control
    • Time display
    • Loud overheat alarm

    • Takes up two 5 ¼ bays
    • No color faceplates to match the case colors
    • Ultra-slow response to fan speed adjustment
    • Non-working automatic mode
    • No four-pin to three-pin adapters in the box
    • Inability to disable temperature alarm (25-90C range)

    Overall conclusion

AeroCool GateWatch has an extremely attractive design and a number of important features that any computer user can benefit from. But its shortcomings make it impractical for a serious consumer that is into overclocking. It is definitely not geared towards a PC modding enthusiast, who needs a fanbus/controller that is fast, simple and responsive. This product is eye-candy that looks great and adds an element of convenience, with features like volume control and LCD time read-out. It's great for showing off in front of your friends and at LAN parties as well. Just make sure it matches your case color, otherwise it will look out of place.

AeroCool has a few things to tweak with this unit if it is to be considered a really great fan controller. Overall, if you don’t expect much of this product and are not buying it because you have to have control of your PC’s temperature, you will be pleased with its appearance and style. If you want a flashy display inside your PC case, it is definitely as great choice. Should you consider buying the GateWatch for its main function, “The Gate Keeper of the heat and air flow” (as AeroCool states in the manual), buy  a good old analog fanbus instead and save yourself some money.
