The Future of Hardware and Technology - Enter the Robot World

As for Sonny, the lovable, free-thinking robot who goes from psycho to savior, the technology for this may not be too far off either.  In the movie, the NS-5 line of robots were a technological breakthrough that boasted highly evolved A.I., or Artificial Intelligence. They were companion robots that assisted humans in performing everyday tasks. Realistic? You may be surprised. There are already two of these technologies in existence. At the time of this writing, all we need to do is combine the two.

The picture above is a fembot, a female android (human-like robot). This robot attempts to emulate a woman.  It even walks and talks like a woman.  Other advancements have rendered robots that can cook, clean, and perform normal household chores.  All someone needs to do is put one of these inside the fembot body. Several designs resembling Sonny have been in existence for the past few years, but with the evolution of robots like the fembot, we could be seeing a much more advanced version of Sonny very soon.

All that we need now is to perfect the artificial intelligence.Remember the cute, cuddly teddy bear from Steven Spielberg’s “A.I.: Artificial Intelligence”? What if I told you that bear is a real toy that is already in existence? It was borrowed for the movie!

All that we need now is to perfect the artificial intelligence.

Even this isn’t too far beyond the scope of reality. There have been several breakthroughs in the area of artificial intelligence as well. In fact, both of these technologies, artificial intelligence and bionics are expected to be perfected enough for everyday use within the next 10 to 15 years.  Not bad, that’s about 10 years earlier than predicted by “I, Robot.”
