    The All-in-One Device

For years we have heard that we will all carry around a PDA-sized computer with all of our data on it; that we will be able to do everything we can on a normal computer. We have been promised that we will get these devices, but where are they?

I can't find one. If I could, I would have had it long ago. I really would love to combine all my devices and carry around only one without losing any functionally for any tasks. I think we are  getting there, but many companies are missing the whole idea all together.

    What we want

This is what I feel we need in a device in order to fully lose the traditional computer. If you feel that we need a feature or do not need a feature, feel free to chime in. I'm sure my device won't fit everyone's needs, but I hope it will fit for a majority of people.

The first thing I would look at is size. I don't want anything too big. I want something that fits in my pocket and won't weigh it down. I expect there to be some noticeable weight in my pocket; we aren't that technologically advanced yet, but hey, we might soon be. I would say as a general rule, if I can run with it in my pocket, and not have it flop around or pull my pants down, I'm set.

The screen is vital. I want a touch screen. Being limited to the keys won't work. Maybe it could use something similar to the old mouse ball that can be found on some older notebooks. I believe the IBM ones still have it. As far as screens go, I am happy with the current size of screens that are found on devices like the pocket PC. I think the horizontal slide-out keyboard is a great asset, but will take up room. It's a nice feature, but not required.
