Spiceworks 4.0 Free IT Management Software Released - Twitter and Other Tie-ins
(Page 3 of 4 )
It seems as if MySpace is past its prime, as its popularity has easily been surpassed by Facebook. Well, there's a new fighter in the ring. It may have seemed like the awkward, slightly bizarre underdog no more than a year ago, but it has quickly become one of the fastest-growing phenomena on the Internet -- yes, Twitter. Twitter has become supremely popular and frankly put, it just would have been silly for Spiceworks to leave it out of its new social networking lineup. Thankfully, they didn't. Spiceworks 4.0 software will be fully integrated with Twitter, enabling any and all activity updates to be published via the social messaging site.
Spiceworks has also added a wide array of plug-ins and social media widgets. Users, to their great joy, can now keep track of tickets, alerts, new software and hardware, and keep an inventory of their summaries. The software's virtual help desk feature has also been updated. It now lets users control a help desk from a mobile phone, as well as create new tickets, edit and update existing tickets and delete tickets remotely.
The look of Spiceworks is also changing by allowing users to add bits and pieces of their own likes and personalities. Other new features include the ability to add themes and skins to their desktop, customized user portals, and the ability to include news widgets from RSS feeds and social networking widgets for Facebook, Digg, and MySpace.
