Shopping Guide to Next Generation Consoles by Online Service

All three of the hottest gaming consoles have taken a step into the next dimension of gaming: the Internet. But Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo offer different experiences when it comes to taking things online. In this article, we compare this feature in the Wii, the PlayStation 3, and the Xbox 360.

So, you want to get your hands on a next generation video game console. Maybe it is for a gift, or it is a gift to yourself, but either way you have a serious decision in front of your nose. You have to decide if you are going to be buying a Nintendo Wii, a PlayStation 3 or an Xbox 360. You have looked at the hardware on all of them, the games that are out for the systems, and the accessories that will be out there to enhance your play experience.

And yet, no matter how much you search around you can not seem to find a piece of information that will sway you in one direction or another, and put one of the systems at the head of the pack. Well, you no longer have to live haunted by the shadowy specters of doubt and paralyzed by the potential of buyer’s remorse. We have come across a factor that, should you find yourself on the fence, can help you to make the decision once and for all. We are going to use the game systems' online aspects to make the decision.

Now, if you have never heard about or seen one of the online systems for a next generation console, then you probably do not understand why this is a big deal. Sure, being able to trash talk your friends while sneaking up behind them in Halo is a cool idea, but hardly a deal breaker or a deal maker, when you choose a video game system.

If that was all there was to the online systems of the next generation consoles, I would be right there with you in search of a different set of criteria with which to rate the systems -- but the online services of the next generation systems can do oh so much more than just that. They can take your game play to a whole new level.

"So," you ask, "what can these next generation console systems do for me?"

Well, as you may have already guessed, it will vary depending on the system that you get (we will compare them later on). You can have web browsing, extended online play of the games in your library, access to downloads of classic games for the systems, access to headlines and a lot of other really interesting things.
