Radio IP Software`s Mobile VPN Technology - Other Companies with Similar Offerings
(Page 3 of 3 )
Remote and mobile workers are currently a priority for many businesses both large and small. A key to a business’s productivity, and in the case of smaller companies, to their success, is having easy-to-use, secure access to critical data, resources, and applications. Whether Radio IP’s concurrent VPN technology will eventually reveal itself as the best in the business is yet to be seen, but one thing is for sure: they’re not the only company offering this type of technology.
WatchGuard Technologies, which is a global leader in network security and connectivity solutions, unveiled the WatchGuard SSL 100 (a highly secure, easy to use, and flexible SSL VPN appliance) just days before Radio IP was set to make their big demonstration at the end of May. According to the company, the WatchGuard SSL 100 gives businesses an affordable way to provide remote and mobile workers with network access and application delivery for maximum productivity.
WatchGuard Technologies Senior Product Manager Bryan Nairn said their new SSL 100 leverages their “award-winning and feature-rich enterprise SSL VPN technology and distills it into a best in class, all-in-one appliance." The product is said to be ideal for companies with up to 500 users because the SSL 100 supports up to 100 concurrent connections.
If that sounds familiar, it’s because it’s the exact concurrent technology Radio IP is heralding as innovative, cutting edge, and “unique.” The prices of Radio IP’s offerings are not immediately available. WatchGuard, however, boasts that they are unlike other vendors offering SSL VPN because they require no additional add-ons or expensive service contracts. According to the company’s site, the SSL 100 provides a complete and comprehensive array of features for less than $2,000.
The IT industry is obviously cutthroat and ultra-competitive. Radio IP’s concurrent VPN technology may prove itself to be superior to other, similar technologies on the market, but supremacy never lasts for long in this particular industry.
Communications companies know better than to rest on their laurels because it seems to be increasingly common that similar software or technologies are released within days of each other. Radio IP may have had their big reveal in Germany, but it was just three days before that WatchGuard was announcing their own take on concurrent VPN’s. We’ll just have to wait and see how this technology changes the workforce and what useful innovation is developed next.
