Ninja Gaiden II for the Xbox 360 - Gameplay Problems
(Page 3 of 4 )

The first problem with game play in Ninja Gaiden II is the camera system. To say the least, it is not very user-friendly. Too many times the camera focuses on inconsequential surroundings, and in turn you get surprised by enemies that pop up out of nowhere and were off screen. It would help greatly if the camera would focus on more important areas.
It is hard to predict where the camera will be facing after certain moves during combat, and this uncertainty can definitely mess up your fighting. At times it can seem as if you are not only fighting the enemies in Ninja Gaiden II, but also the camera. This is one of the reasons why the game is so difficult. It would have been nice if the developers of Ninja Gaiden II had addressed this camera issue, as it was also a problem in previous editions of the series.
Another problem with the game is that, although the environments look very good, they can be quite impractical at times. Too many areas of the game consist of cramped locations in which it is hard to maneuver. It is not easy to be in the middle of combat while you are in a narrow staircase or a small train carriage. These often-appearing cramped places in the game also increase your chances of receiving damage from enemies that were off the screen and pop up out of nowhere in your face from around a corner.
Yet another problem with the game play in Ninja Gaiden II is sometimes it seems as though the game play is just not fair. The cramped fighting areas mentioned before are one example, but others just seem unnecessary, like succeeding in destroying an enemy yet dying because he exploded and you forgot to hold the block button to protect yourself after the fact. Difficult game play can be a good thing, but at times it seems as if Ninja Gaiden II tries too hard at it.
