My X-mas Wish List (One Techie’s Delusions of Excess) - Item 5: A Nice Joystick
(Page 5 of 5 )
My last pick for my Christmas Wish List of Excess came in the form of something not available in the technology world but is a marvel of technology itself. Plenty of people, like myself, enjoy flight simulator games. Naturally, with all of the above hardware combined together I most certainly could enjoy an amazing experience in any flight simulator game. I doubt I could get much closer to the real thing.
Unless, I had the real thing.
Thankfully with the constant growth and glut of the world’s armed forces there is a burgeoning market for army surplus. In this case, through a few online searches, I managed to find a Russian MiG fighter jet. Nothing says excess and style more than your own personal fighter aircraft. Forget simulators, I’ll have the real thing to play with!
Available through 121 Military Vehicles the MiG fighter jet was the paramount of Russian military aviation technology. The MiG series of fighters made their first flight in September 1953 and was placed into production in 1955. Over the years, different versions were seen around the world through various communist states from Czechoslovakia to China. Able to fly at supersonic speeds and capable of producing 7,165 lbs of thrust with each of its afterburners the MiG fighter jet would make an awesome present under my Christmas tree.

No longer would I have to worry about the morning rush hour or racing through traffic from the kids’ soccer game to the grocery store. I would fly there with Cold War style. The only drawback I see to this particular mode of day-to-day travel is finding enough road to land on.
Pfft, details. If I can afford to fuel and keep a MiG fighter jet for my exclusive personal use I can afford to have a private airfield. Thats the easy part!
With Christmas just around the corner and the lines growing at the various cash registers throughout North America and most of the rest of the world, I had better start shopping.
Merry Christmas!
