More Wiiware Games - V.I.P. Casino Blackjack
(Page 3 of 4 )

V.I.P. Casino: Blackjack is a pretty straightforward card game simulator for Wiiware. Although the game is very simplistic like its other Wiiware counterparts, it should no doubt be a top seller due to the large number of people that are fans of card games. V.I.P. Casino: Blackjack’s setup is a blackjack game with five players around the table and a dealer. The objective of the game is to beat the dealer by hitting, standing, or doubling down.
There is no direct competition for cash between the other competitors as in other poker or card games. It is simply player versus dealer. Any cash players earn can be saved after each game, allowing them to continue building their bankroll through time. There are 22 different achievements in the game that are awarded for completing goals, such as winning certain amounts of money.
Game play in V.I.P Casino: Blackjack is controlled by a cursor, allowing players to go through the menus and the game by just pointing and clicking their Wii remotes. The game features simple graphics, with a look similar to an old poker hall. Character models and the background remain the same throughout the game. One mishap that was overlooked is that you cannot change your player’s name, so you will always be known as Mr. Paradise throughout your blackjack career.
There is a local multiplayer mode that supports up to four participants at once. The downside to this mode is that you will need four Wii remotes instead of just one that can be used for all players. This seems rather odd considering it is not a fast paced action game and the four remotes don’t seem like they should be required. Another mark against the game could be that the dealer animations are tedious and take a while to cycle through. It would be nice if there was an option to hurry them up or skip the animations.
V.I.P. Casino: Blackjack could very well be a victim of the simplicity of the real life game it represents. The Wiiware download does not have many options or modes to choose from other than your normal blackjack game to 21. The fact that V.I.P. Casino: Blackjack does not have an online mode is a huge disappointment, as it would seem that a large number of card game fans would enjoy getting online to compete against one another. The game, although a bit simplistic, should satisfy blackjack lovers who wish to get a taste of their game from time to time. Priced to download for $7 or 700 points, V.I.P Casino: Blackjack is definitely cheaper than going to a real casino as well.
