More Wiiware Games - Pop

Wiiware’s Pop could very well be one of the simplest games ever. The whole game revolves around simply popping bubbles that appear on the screen by pointing at them with your controller and pressing the A or B button to pop them in. The object is to get the highest score possible. Players can choose to just sit back and do this seemingly monotonous task all day in Pop’s Chill Mode where there are really no limits or restrictions to the game play. Think of it as a type of practice mode.
Pop can become more complex, however, in its regular mode, where the bubbles appear in different shapes and sizes that cause players to choose which ones they must pop first, as each has a different value and importance. Each level is controlled by a timer that can max out at 100 seconds. The game ends when the timer strikes zero. Hitting and popping a bubble earns points, and hitting nothing causes extra seconds to run off the timer. Players can max out their scores and times with combinations, such as popping bubbles of the same color consecutively or popping a cluster of bubbles at once. A multiplayer mode exists as well that allows up to four players to jump in or jump out of a game at any time.
Wiiware’s Pop, while entertaining for a bit for those with an addictive or compulsive personality, may be too simplistic for many. The jump in/jump out multiplayer feature is a plus, and the game’s graphics are colorful and bright. A wide variety of play modes is lacking, however. Those looking for more depth out of a game, though, might want to look to other Wiiware titles. Pop can be downloaded for $7 or 700 points.
