Mario Kart Wii Review - Playing Online

Online play is where Mario Kart Wii really shines. Those lucky enough to have Internet access hooked up to their systems should definitely have Mario Kart Wii in their gaming libraries. Getting online is simple and there are rarely issues when connecting to rooms or joining a match. Players can either choose to search for their friends online to start their own matches or find random players worldwide to start a match almost instantly. The interface used to join matches and interact with other gamers is very user-friendly and a snap to use.
As for the game play while online, Mario Kart Wii falls nothing short of spectacular. The frame rate in game never suffers no matter how intense the action. This combined with the ease of use makes Mario Kart Wii quite possibly the best online gaming option for the Wii console. There is no need to worry about those players with bad intentions either, as Wii has cracked down on snaking in games as well as those players who like to drive in reverse to ruin the fun for others.
Aesthetically Mario Kart Wii is very pleasing. On the whole the game is visually simplistic, yet well done. The menus are simple but look sharp. This pretty much sums up the rest of the game as well, as most of the tracks have a rather generic look but do enough to keep the eyes stimulated. The colors used throughout the game are nice and vivid.
While Mario Kart Wii certainly isn't the perfect game, it is definitely an enjoyable one, especially for those with online access. The over-the-top AI in the 150cc single player mode and lack of two player co-op is definitely a turn off. Other than that, though, the online excellence in Mario Kart Wii and its seemingly never-ending content definitely makes it a game worth buying.
