    Leapfrog Didj Educational Gaming System

Can video games be both fun and educational? The makers of the Leapfrog Didj seem to think so. Aimed at a fairly young age group, the educational gaming system hopes to keep its audience entertained while it educates. Today we'll take a close look to see how well it fulfills its task.

With the world seemingly shifting towards everything electronic nowadays, there comes a dilemma for parents. More and more children spend more time indoors than out, leading to laziness and obesity for some. Many turn to video games, television, and the Internet as their sole forms of entertainment. Therefore, if your child is going to be occupied with video games, wouldn’t it be better if those games actually exercised their brains rather than numbing them?

The Leapfrog Didj gaming system helps to address this issue. The Leapfrog Didj is a handheld gaming system that aims to not only entertain children, but educate them as well. The system is aimed at children ages 6 to 10 and, while not a direct competitor to the Nintendo DS in terms of style and intent, its target market is pretty much the same.

The DS does have a couple of educational games itself, but the system as a whole is more entertainment-driven than educational. There are currently ten games available for the Leapfrog Didj, and that number is sure to grow over time. Each game is intended to sharpen necessary scholastic skills in terms of grammar and mathematics to name a couple. The difference with past attempts at this genre is, with the Leapfrog Didj, the games are more like your mainstream video games. Indiana Jones and Sonic the Hedgehog are just a couple of the choices currently available.

The Leapfrog Didj is currently on sale for $89.99, with its games priced at around $29.99. If you are a parent worried about how your child spends their time, the Leapfrog Didj would be a wise investment as it kills two birds with one stone by entertaining and educating in one swoop.
