It`s a Mod Mod World: Case and Found Object Modding - Bill Owen and his Corvette

Mr. Owen is often featured in various magazines showcasing his latest creations. From mods based on creating a computer version of the Corvette Stingray to artistic interpretations of bio-mechanics he has shown his versatility and creativity time and time again. Utilizing some of the best fabricating methods available like watercutting and powder coating Mr. Owen is in a league all by himself, elevating the bar for the professional case modder to new levels.

Like many case modders Mr. Owen has taught himself many of the skills needed to create a successful case mod. For the CPU Stingray he demonstrated his skills with short strand fiberglass filler to create the distinctive Corvette hood. Experimenting with new methods in order to create a unique one-of-a-kind piece for his mod is the hallmark of case modding.

Case modding often incorporates some of the latest and greatest hardware innovations, some available off the shelf from local computer stores or custom made according to one person’s vision. Exotic hardware setups incorporating cooling methods like water cooling are not uncommon sights in high-end case mods.

Many case modders provide walk thrus of their techniques and how they went about creating their mods. These work logs provide a wealth of information on different techniques and methods to achieve a variety of different results. Even unsuccessful methods often provide insight and ideas for other modders to utilize them in new and unexpected ways.
