Nintendo
From the start of Nintendo's press conference, it is clear to see that they are interested in targeting new gamers. They realize that there is a huge audience who claims that they don't play games. They are making these people change their minds about video games by revolutionizing the video game industry with consoles such as the Wii. They claim that their business is thriving due to adults and to women who purchase their DS, Gameboy, or Wii. Nintendo claims that 1 out of 8 men over 50 years old now play a Nintendo system regularly. Nintendo claims that gamers can expect another 100 games for Wii, and another 140 DS games by the end of 2007.
Right off the bat, Nintendo announced the release of the Wii zapper. This is a gun which may be used for shooting games, and the zapper even houses the Wii remote and the Wii nunchucks. Nintendo also announced that the Wii zapper will be available for only MSRP $19.99. A few of the games which will be available right away to use with the zapper are Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, Ghost Squad, and Medal of Honor.

Nintendo also spoke about their WiFi capabilities. They described how the Nintendo DS can be used to play with other gamers around the world. They also talked about the Wii Internet channel which can be used to shop for anything Wii. There is also a new channel called "check," which you can put your "mii" creation into and have others vote on it, as well as interact with other members. Wii online also will also offer sport games like Madden 08 and FIFA 08, where you can play against others around the world and enter into leagues.
Keeping with the online theme for Wii, Nintendo announced the release of
Mariokart scheduled for early 2008. This game will allow you to race against people around the world, in real time, via the Internet. Nintendo also announced the Wii wheel which will go along with Mariokart, and will allow the user to use a steering wheel to control their cart while playing Mariokart.

It's clear that Nintendo's goal is to improve the user's knowledge, fitness, and even their life. This goal makes the Wii unlike any other console on the market today. Games like Brain Age 2 help to increase your knowledge on various subjects, My Life Coach will help to improve aspects of the user's life, and Wii gives the user a sort of aerobic workout while playing games. Nintendo plans on going a step further with the fitness aspect of gaming with the introduction of Wii Fit.
Wii Fit is a revolutionary idea unlike any other in the gaming industry. Nintendo is hoping that it will be used by the entire family in order to get in shape while playing a video game. The balance board which is used while playing Wii Fit is about the size of an at-home weight scale. This board can be used for balance exercises, step aerobics, yoga, and other movements. In all, there are about 40 different activities in this game. This balance board can also be used to track your BMI over time. Nintendo hopes that this revolution will introduce fitness into gaming, and in turn introduce new people to gaming.

Some of the new games for the Wii include:
Smash Bros Brawl- available Dec. 3, 2007
Metroid Prime 3-Corruption- available Aug. 27, 2007
Super Mario Galaxy- available Nov. 12, 2007
My Sims- for Wii and DS
Some of the new games for the Nintendo DS include:
Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Brain Age 2
Picross
My Word Coach
It is clear that Nintendo is on the cutting edge of gaming technology. Their 2007 E3 press conference left me feeling like they are the future of gaming. In my opinion, it won't be long before Nintendo Wii overtakes the Xbox 360 as the most popular gaming console.
