Highlights From the 2007 E3 Convention - Microsoft

Microsoft introduced some great new video game titles, as well as some sequels, at this year's E3. Microsoft went on to throw out a lot of numbers at their press conference, showing how the Xbox 360 is the number one gaming console on the planet. They claimed that about half of all money spent on gaming by consumers went to the Xbox 360. So basically, they really tried to get the point across about how they are the number one gaming console available.  They also exclaimed that they now have over seven million members of Xbox Live, and they plan on increasing that number to over 10 million by this time next year.

Microsoft also mentioned that Xbox 360 offers more than just arcade games. It also offers full HD movies in a huge library which is growing exponentially. No other console currently offers HD movies.

Microsoft also talked about new games coming out for the Windows platform on
the PC. The most popular of these titles is definitely Gears of War which will be available for purchase for the 2007 holiday season. Some of the other upcoming PC titles include World in Conflict, Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, and Company of Heroes. There were also many other titles that were announced for the PC that are coming out this year.

The Xbox 360 platform has some great titles coming out in 2007, and they will all be available for the holiday season.  Some of the most popular titles are:

Mass Effect- This was the winner of the 2006 best RPG. It will be available in November.

Rock Band- This game allows the user to create a full band with other people across the Internet. It is part of the Guitar Hero series of games.

Halo 3- This game will be available September 25, and it is exclusive to the Xbox 360. Microsoft even unveiled an Xbox 360 special edition console designed around the Halo concept, which will be available in September.

Naruto: Rise of a Ninja- This video game is based upon the popular cartoon on
the Cartoon Network, which is the number one show for boys aged 8-14.

Lost Odyssey- One of the top RPG games.

Project Gotham Racing 4- This game will be available in September.

Grand Theft Auto 4- One of the highest selling series of all time.

Scene it- This game is based on the board game, and it includes a new controller with the purchase of the game that is similar in size to the Wii controller. This will be a great family game.

Assassin's Creed- This game will be available in November, 2007.

Bioshock- Recently released, this first-person-shooter takes place in a dystopian underwater city and features an intricate plot.

This is just a taste of what Xbox 360 users can expect for the near future from Microsoft. The people at Microsoft did a great job at introducing only games that were being released this year. They didn't waste time introducing titles that were being released in 2008 or 2009. They also announced that all of their popular sports titles like Madden 08 are now twice as fast as last year, meaning that the graphics will be much smoother and more realistic. I was impressed with Microsoft's press conference as a whole.
