Green Umbrella Product Review - What is the catch?

Ah, you know there is always one, and I won't lie to you about it. In order for you to put an item on the plan it has to have come with an existing warranty of at least 90 days to begin with, or you cannot put it onto the plan. This is mostly due to the fact that this is a warranty extension plan, and with no base warranty there is nothing to extend.

On the bright side, most devices now come with some form of a manufacturer's warranty; just be sure it is actually 90 days and not 60 days. Also, be sure you see the word "warranty" and not "guarantee." Many people think that they mean the same thing, but from a legal point of view they don't.

So who makes this uber-warranty and how much is it going to cost me?

This warranty is made by a company called Green Umbrella and it costs $9.99 ($10) per month. This means that it would be $120 a year or $240 over the two-year duration of the warranty extension items' registration. Just remember, the more that you put onto the warranty, the less it will cost you per item, per month to insure.

    Example:

$10 per month ( I rounded, we all know 9.99 is really 10 dollars)

1 Item = Cost per monthly insurance is $10 per item.

2 Items = Cost per monthly insurance is $5 per item.

10 Items = Cost per monthly insurance is $1 per item.

You have to love that distributive property. Our middle school math teachers would be so proud of us!
