Geek Death Match: Bill Gates vs. Steve Jobs - Rounds 6 through 8

Round 6 - Most influential to company

This round is all about what they did at the company. Both founded their companies, and are the most influential people in their companies, but who has had more influence? Bill Gates has had his hand in many different projects. It's hard to figure out what was a direct result of Bill being at Microsoft and what has just come project managers.

Steve Jobs, on the other hand, can point to proof of his importance. Early on Steve was kicked out of Apple, and the company bombed hard. Then Steve came back and it began to rise from the ashes again. Now Apple is as big as ever. Steve Jobs brought us iPods, iPhones, iMacs, iBooks...if it begins with i, then you can thank Steve. So this round has to go to Steve, since there is concrete evidence of his influence.

    Bill: 2
    Steve: 2

    Round 7 - Vista vs. OS X

I'm sure this one is going to get heated. There are many Apple fan boys and just as many Microsoft fan boys. I'm more of a Microsoft fan boy, but will take neutral ground here.

So it's time to take a look the companies' current OS offerings. Both Vista and OS X are great operating systems, in my opinion. I love using them both. Windows is great for business uses and OS X is great for home uses. Vista is getting kicked while it’s down right now because it needs too fast of a computer to run.  Apple is rumored to be killing non-Intel support in the next release of OS X, so pick your poison. I think I'm going to give both a nod here, because they are both great platforms.

    Bill: 3
    Steve: 3

    Round 8 - Best House

Who has the better house? Steve Jobs lives a pretty private life, and not a lot is known about his house. Finding pictures of his house were hard to do, and I couldn't grab a good picture. This picture above is the best I could do.

Now it's time to take a look at Bill's house. It's massive in size and coolness. Its 1997 value is $55 million; I don't think a house like this is affected too much by the market downfall. It was custom-built for him; it's a massive house on the lake, with solar panels. There is no competition; Bill wins this one hands down. It's probably one of the coolest houses in the world -- think about the gadgets he has in there!

    Bill: 4
    Steve: 3
