    Freeware Games

Since the last freeware article was a hit, I thought I'd come back to you with some more freeware. This time I’ll talk about some freeware games that are comparable to retail games and are still very fun and addicting to play.

Compared to software, it is rarer for people or companies to release freeware games, but I have found some really good ones.  Games can take months of programming by a staff of programmers to develop.  Once published, the company needs to have powerful servers to enable the game to go online.

Sure you could download them illegally, but that wouldn't be the best option.  You could end up in jail or fined and the CD-Key you would use to install it is probably blacklisted, which means no multiplayer for you.  Everyone that steals games makes the price go up for all of us that buy the full version of the game at the retail price.  Most freeware games aren't going to include as much detail and won't be as large of a game as the retail games.  Here are some of my personal favorite games along with some of the more popular ones.

    Last Chaos

I'm not into MMORPG; heck, the only RPG I play is Oblivion.  This game was recommended to me by a fellow Dev Hardware member.  I installed it and began playing it.  For not being a MMORPG type of person, I really enjoyed this game.  While the graphics aren't anywhere near as great as Oblivion, Oblivion is a $50 game; this one is free.

This game is a very good alternative to World of Warcraft.  You can choose your character, and as you play, you gain gold and weapons.  I would recommend it for everyone to try; what's it going to hurt? It doesn't cost you anything. I haven't played many MMORPG games to compare it to, but it was highly recommended for this article.

     Voyage Century

This is another MMORPG.  I have seen this one all over the top freeware games sites.  It came out in April and has seen a steady increase of players since then.  From my limited playing, it is similar to the Pirates! Game.  You chose what type of character you are and you sail around doing stuff for your character type.  Once on the ocean you can fight other boats with cannons.  As with Pirates! you can take cities and plunder them.

I loved Pirates! and also enjoy this game.  There is more development stuff and less fighting as compared to Pirates!, but it's still a great free game.  This is by far my favorite MMORPG game out there.   I spent the last few hours last night playing this game and am hooked on it. This game is in its infancy so with some more development time I look forward to seeing some nice improvements in this game.
