Everyone’s iProfiting - iPod holders and more

Let's take a look at a few manufacturers and see what is going on with their line of products. Take Belkin for example - a company that specializes in manufacturing cables for interconnecting computer components. All of a sudden we see plastic iPOD holders, headphone splitters and even a Firewire 1394 card that shows an iPOD on the package, as if it is a die-hard accessory made specifically for the player. And, of course, the color is white, to accent their "compatibility" with the gadget.

Monster Cable is another ultra-successful company making a whole line of exceptional quality audio/video cables that was founded and driven to the top by Noel Lee, the head monster himself. They had released a whole new line of accessories that boldly state on the package: "designed for Apple iPOD." And all the new cables sport the familiar color palette.

Of course there are more products than just cables - FM transmitters, remote controls, and media readers as well. But besides the unique devices that connect to the iPOD's expansion port, there is nothing special about the new line of wires introduced by them but a higher price and mysterious iPOD "compatibility." If that is not enough, people like Monster Cable are adding an "i" to all these new products' names. Now we have "iCarPlay," "iAirPlay" and even an "iSpeaker" and an "iCase." Oh no, it is no longer a case for your music player, it is an "iCase" now.
