Christmas 2008 Gift Guide - Video Games continued
(Page 2 of 4 )
The portable gaming systems market is still going to be hot this year as well. Not much has changed with Nintendo's DS Lite from last year. There are some new limited edition models and some new colors, but it's still the same old system inside.
Sony's PSP has had an upgrade to PSP 3000. There's no need to worry too much, however; all games are compatible with both systems. The difference is the newer one has a better screen and a CPU that hasn't been hacked to put custom games on it. Both versions should be on sale this holiday season. The new one will probably be only in limited edition bundles, while the older one will be available as part of a bundle and as a separate console.
The new one is being slowly released, so getting your hands on it might be hard. Both the PSP and DS Lite will be hot items this year, and will probably run out in many stores. Chances of these going on sale are slim. Best deals will include free accessories. PSP games prices are usually constant, where DS games typically will go on sale and have some good deals on games every week.

There are plenty of great games coming out or recently released. Some of the most popular ones are Call of Duty: World at War, and the new band games, Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero World Tour. Finding games shouldn't be an issue this season, as games can be stamped and printed by the thousands a day.
MP3 Players

This section will be dominated by the iPods. They are the best seller in nearly every category of media player. Apple recently updated all of their iPods and got ready for the holiday season. I wrote about these changes and features a few months back. If you want the whole run down go back and check that out.
This holiday season, they will continue to sell like hotcakes. Finding iPods shouldn't be a problem at any time this year. There haven't been shortages around the holiday season before, and probably won't be this year.
Microsoft's Zune has been picking up sales, as well as other brands of MP3 players. Don't count on sales on the iPods or Zunes. At best, you might be able to score a free case or music gift card. The prices of these players are pretty standard and do not change at all.
