CeBIT 2008 Round Up - New controllers

If you think that UMPCs are the most advanced technology you have ever seen, you better sit down for this next device.  This seems like something taken straight out of the movie Star Wars, but this device has been talked about and confirmed to exist. At CeBIT 2008 we got to see this new device that will revolutionize the way we do anything on the computer from browsing the Internet to playing games. What could this device be?

It's a Neural Impulse Actuator (NIA). It sounds like a blaster gun from Star Wars, but it's really a device that allows you to control the mouse pointer with your brain. It sounds really cool, and really complicated.  According to OCZ, these are devices made to be mass produced, so who knows, we might actually see mind-controlled mice sooner rather than later.

It surely will bring a new aspect to gaming, being able to move and shoot with your mind.  Perhaps teaming it up with a Wii-like control system could really get you into the game like never before. I think that vast majority, however, would rather keep their mouse and keyboard over this cutting-edge technology. How much will this mind-controlled device go for?  OCZ says $199, but I want to see it on shelves before I get too excited.

ASUS surely didn't disappoint our curiosity with their lineup.  First up is their bamboo selection of computers and monitors. No I'm not joking; the computer cases are made of bamboo. This goes back to bamboo's magical properties in some cultures, and I guess makes the computer look greener to the average Joe.  ASUS will make these if there appears to be a demand in the market for the devices.  I for one am not a huge fan of these; I'm looking at them and am puzzled. Who would want a PC made of bamboo? If the PC overheats will it catches fire?
