    Car Audio Technology - Carputers

So what is a true geek going to do for their cars? Unless your car comes with an OEM-equipped car management system, you probably aren’t impressed with your stereo. Well, we love computers, so why not put a computer into your car?

It may sound like a huge project, but it’s not that difficult to do. Many people have managed to fit PCs into their car and hook them into a monitor in their dashboard. There are many mini computers that fit well. One of the popular ones is the Mac Mini; many people manage to fit them into a little compartment under the dash. ITX computers are also widely popular.

People that use the carputers have many options integrated into one screen. There is GPS, video, audio, TV, Bluetooth and even games. You can throw all your media onto the hard drive and take it with you wherever you go. A wireless network connection at home can make transferring files effortless.

If you even want to go a step further, you can get a wireless card from a mobile operator and get wireless Internet wherever you drive. I could continue, but I think you get the idea; with a carputer, you can do almost anything!

    Conclusion

For those who are interested in taking your car stereo to the next level, there are lots of options. While there is no single solution that is best for everyone, there are some definite steps here.

The top is the carputer. A step down from that would be an add-on stereo. This is broken down into what you listen to. If you don’t have CDs, a digital media receiver might be best for you; it offers many digital methods for listening to music without needing the bulky CD part of the stereo.

Are you one of the millions that have iPods? There are plenty of iPod connectors for stereos, which might be best for you. There are many options between which to decide, but I hope there has helped you figure out what is best for you.
