Battlefield: Bad Company for the Xbox 360 - The Plot
(Page 2 of 4 )
As stated, Battlefield: Bad Company is the first story-based edition in the series. The plot follows Private Preston Marlow, new to the army and part of B Company, or Bad Company in the slang sense. You could say that B Company lives up to its Bad Company moniker, as it is basically a platoon full of misfit soldiers. Each of Private Marlow's comrades comes equipped with their own personality too.
The game has dialog and plenty of one liners from the combatants that are a bit too comical for a war setting. It seems like the makers of the game tried a little too hard at the comedy at times and it just seems out of place. The combat action is simply too intense and gets too heated to have so much joking around going on all the time. It is just a game, but it should try to be a touch more realistic when it comes to the soldiers' personalities and behaviors during combat, although while playing the game you do see that it does not attempt to be as serious or as close a simulation of actual combat as the Call of Duty series.

Most of the missions within the Battlefield: Bad Company story line are typical war missions to find targets and complete objectives, although it does not stay completely linear throughout. There is a main villain that the four main soldiers in Bad Company must go against. Once you get deeper into the game the plot takes a twist dealing with money that of course this misfit platoon's characters cannot ignore. The plot is decent, but nothing worthy of an Oscar in the gaming world. One definite downfall is that there is no co-op mode to let you and some friends take control of all of the four main soldiers in the story line.
