All About Black Friday
Everyone in the country knows that the day after Thanksgiving is the official start to the holiday shopping. It seems like every store is having massive sales. So what is up with the name Black Friday? The name seems to remind people of Black Thursday, and the crash of 1929. The name has nothing to do with the stock market; if anything, it’s the opposite.
Black Friday means that the retailers start going from the red, loss of net income, and into the black, positive net gains. This is when the best of the best deals of the holiday season are found. Getting the very best deals involves commitment. It is cold, usually snowy, and there are massive lines. The people that get the door buster deals are there a day or more ahead of the sales. People get crabby and fights and complaining typically break out. You want to know how to score the best deals, and where the hot products are going to be at this year -- so keep reading.
Black Thursday
No, I’m not talking about the stock market crash of 1929, or the ones in 2008. It is something new in the past few years. The great things about online stores are that they are open 24/7, even Thanksgiving. Many online retailers use this to their advantage. Many online stores start their holiday prices on the day of Thanksgiving. While many are feasting on turkeys and pies, you could score some deals by hopping onto sites and quickly placing an order for the stuff you want.
Black Thursday isn’t limited to the online stores. Some of the retailers that have online stores do some early posting of their products online on Thanksgiving. There are a few hitches to this. First, the door buster deals are never online; they are always limited to those first 10 or so people that get in line. Some of the regular deals that are really hot aren’t posted either. Not all of the stores do this, so it’s hit or miss.
The times these are updated on sites are random as well. Some stores will require you to go into the store to get the product instead of shipping it. That means you still have to go to the store on the day after Thanksgiving, which might not be a great idea. The good part is you can go in the afternoon, and hopefully the store will not be as hectic as early in the morning.
