10 Things Microsoft Could Learn from Apple - Get with the Times!

    6) Intel -- So Microsoft, what's up with Apple getting a special Core 2 Duo 3.06 GHz?  I know you're not a hardware company, but are you just going to continue to stand here and take it from Apple? Intel was all about Microsoft and Windows until a few years ago and now they love to Apple. Sure, perhaps the little speed bump won't do much, but when people are looking at two computers and one is faster than the other, then why not get that faster CPU?

    7) Money issues -- People now tend to have more than one computer in their house. I'm a huge computer guru; I have five in my house. Paying full price for every OS I upgrade is going to kill me.

Microsoft, how about a house upgrades version or a family pack? A five-pack of OS X Leopard costs only $160. A single upgrade for Vista Home Premium costs $95, and a full version costs over $200. Even with the upgrade version, it would still cost almost $500 to upgrade, compared to only $160 for Apple users.

If Microsoft wants people to upgrade to Vista, or the next release of Windows, the software giant should make it affordable. Currently people are waiting until they get a new PC that has Vista on it. It would cost $160 for the OS itself, but you could get a new computer for under $499.

    8) Re-engineer something old - Please don't force manufacturers to bring back floppies, but there are features of an operating system that could really sparkle with a little elbow grease. Apple certainly didn't invent the MP3 player, but the iPod did very well for itself. Apple didn't invent the virtual desktop, but Spaces has turned into a great feature of OS X. It's not as much about what you have in an operating system, but the presentation of the program is what makes or breaks an application.
