Now let’s find out what the retail sales package contains. Again, this can vary between resellers and partners, so don’t take this for granted; always ask for accurate details regarding the contents of the sales package prior to purchasing.

(Pay attention to the “Vodafone” logo – it is “re-branded” from Novatel Wireless)

    Standard Package Contents

    • Ovation MC950D Modem

    • Quick Start Guide

    • USB Y-cable

    • Retail packaging

    • Monitor clip

    • Branding on USB Modem, packaging, collateral, and software to keep the offering in sync with OEM, or operator’s marketing and branding strategies.

The USB Y-cable is especially important in low-signal areas when more power is required. Should you face a situation like this, you should connect the Y splitter and get electricity from two USB ports simultaneously. This can improve the overall stability and/or speed of the connection, but don’t use it unless it's necessary.

All in all, this elegant and lightweight modem is suitable for any sort of business and/or home usage, including travel and on-the-road usages. You don’t need to carry around the installation CD, because the necessary software and drivers are pre-installed and stored on the memory of the modem. You can surf the net, send and receive e-mails, use Virtual Private Network features, and do everything that’s Internet-related.

The time has come for us to review its level of performance and see if the “world’s smallest” modem lives up to our expectations. Turn the page and we will continue.
