Today, we're going to review the HP ProCurve Switch 2524.

 

 

ProCurve Networking is the networking division of Hewlett-Packard. The  ProCurve division is headquartered in Roseville, CA, United States, while the headquarters of HP can be found at Palo Alto, CA, United States. ProCurve products have a unique niche in the marketplace-their "lifetime warranty."

This basically means that as long as you own the product, they guarantee a next-business day replacement. This includes power supplies, fans, and any other product-related issues. Additionally, the warranty applies to the product, not the buyer. This means that it can be re-sold as many times as required while maintaining the warranty.

The HP ProCurve Switch 2524 sports 24 ports of both Type 10Base-T and Type 100Base-TX. Two additional transceiver slots are also open. An RS-232C port for serial connection is required for the terminal console port, if need be. You have the ability to hook this device up to a computer via the serial port and then set it up via telnet.

Throughout this review we are going to evaluate this small-to-mid-range business or enterprise network switch. It is highly doubtful that you will need a rack-mountable and stackable network device, let alone a 24-port switch. However, if your business is being extended or just building the foundation of the network, or for any other needs, then you should consider purchasing a switch like the ProCurve 2524.
