Foxconn 955X7AA, Intel LGA 775 Motherboard Review
(Page 1 of 8 )
If you have your eyes on Intel’s sweet new 65nm processors like the Presler and other upcoming chips, you’re probably shopping for a new motherboard. Check out this LGA 775 motherboard, the Foxconn 955X7AA 8EKRS2. Foxconn provides tons of features for reasonable prices. So, read on to see what makes this board a good choice.

You may recognize that we recently reviewed a Foxconn Winfast AMD motherboard. The company proved it could make boards with fantastic features for the price, and they showed that Foxconn can entertain the enthusiast crowd. It is also a huge Electronic Contract Manufacturer, the largest in the world. They are second only to ASUSTeK in the number of motherboards they produce.
The Foxconn 955x7aa caught our attention because it looked like a nice home for our brand new Intel Presler. The board itself came in a very attractive box. After you pull off the plastic sleeve with the graphics, the box inside unfolds. It locks itself shut with magnets in the flaps.

As you can see above, the box comes stuffed with cables and accessories. Let's unpack them and see what we get here. First, the board comes with a Quickstart Guide, a user's manual, a driver CD, and 3 floppies full of RAID drivers.

Foxconn also includes 1 floppy cable, 2 Parallel ATA cables, 2 SATA cables, a Firewire plate, a USB plate, an I/O backplate, and 2 power converters that split 1 molex power connector into 2 SATA ones. On the right, you can see that Foxconn included rounded cables instead of generic Parallel ATA cables. They'll open up your case's airflow a little more than regular cables, and they're much easier to work with.
And finally, we have our 955x at the bottom of the box.

Here are just a few of this board's features:
Form: ATX
Graphics: Discrete (non-integrated)
Audio: 7.1 Channel High Definition (Realtek)
LAN: Dual integrated Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000) controllers, dual ports (Broadcom)
IEEE-1394 (Firewire): 3 via internal headers (2 x 1394a + 1 x 1394b)
USB 2.0: Up to 8; 4 in rear I/O area + 2 internal 2-port headers
Now we're ready to take a tour of the motherboard and see what all it has for us.
