EPoX EP-AT690G Pro Motherboard Review - Exploring the Board
(Page 3 of 7 )
Now that we've got the specs out of the way, let's take a tour of the board.

Above is a pic of the whole board. You can see the CPU and memory slots at the top left of the picture. The ATX power connector is at the lower middle of the picture. I personally don't like this location, because it basically puts the power harness directly above the CPU fan. You will see what I mean in a bit.

Above is a closer look at the back panel. The one thing that sticks out on this is the DVI port. But with an integrated Radeon X700, it's not hard to imagine why it's here.

In the first picture above, you can see the Realtek ALC883 HAD Audio codec. This chip is at the rear of the board, behind the PCI slots (with a yellow square around it).
In the second picture, you can see the Realtek 8111B Gigabyte Ethernet controller (left yellow square), and the ICS Clock controller (on the right).

Above we have shots of the North and South bridge, respectively. We didn't remove the heatsinks, but we know the North Bridge is comprised of the AMD 690G, and the South Bridge has the ATI SB600.
