DFI Lanparty UT nForce 4 Ultra D - Jumpers
(Page 5 of 7 )

Like I mentioned earlier, DFI has special jumpers for different configurations of the memory voltages and PCI-Express configuration. There is a reason why OCZ highly recommends this motherboard for their RAM, which takes lots of volts to really fly (like the OCZ VX). This board comes with up to 3.2v stock. However, if you switch the jumper for the memory from the 3.3v rail to the 5v rail, you can have access up to 4.0 volts.
The other configuration is the bandwidth of the PCI-Express slots. By default, the first 16x slot has 16 lanes, second 16x slot has 2 lanes, and both the 1x and 4x each have one lane. If you switch the jumpers to “SLI” mode, it’s not really SLI mode unless you got the SLI board, but switching the jumpers on this board changes the distribution of lanes to the different PCI-Express slots. The “SLI Mode” gives both 16x PCI-Express slots each 8 lanes, same as if you had an SLI board. The 4x slot finally gets 4 lanes, and the lonely 1x slot gets none.
You may ask yourself, what’s the point of putting it to “SLI Mode” without the ability of SLI? DFI offers something called Dual Xpress Graphics (DXG). This won’t give you any performance bump with FPS in games, but allows you to use any 2 PCI-Express graphics cards and have the ability of using up to 4 monitors. While any 2 cards will work, it is not recommended to mix ATI and Nvidia.
You get a few extra jumpers incase you lose or break one, and a tool for removing them. The tool is rally hard to use, and the constant slipping while you try to remove the jumpers will lead to them breaking. I use needle nose pliers that would just fine.
