Chaintech ZNF3-250 Motherboard Review - For the Enthusiasts
(Page 6 of 13 )
Chaintech is a company which looks out for enthusiasts. Need proof? Just take a look at the BIOS options and the selection of components included on the board! Typically the company’s products, from the barebones Summit series to this high-end Zenith, aim to please the overclocker.
The ZNF3-250 proves to be no exception, with its "RadEX" fan and heatsink combo found cooling the voltage regulation module (VRM). Much like the OTES cooling system found on a few ABIT boards, RadEX aims to lower the temperature of these very hot components by means of small heatsink attached to the MOSFETs, and a fan/shroud channeling air over them. This should help dissipate some the heat found in this area. VRM's are meant to operate in high temperature environments; however, with the large amount of current being drawn for modern processors, especially under overclocked conditions, this is starting to become a viable practice. It certainly is an eye catching piece of hardware if nothing else (so long as there’s a big enough window in the side of the case, of course). This is just one example of how they are working towards the heavier end users.
