Data compression is something done on a regular basis in both home and business environment in order to create backups and keep work organized, secure, and transportable. For this test, we archived an 82 MB photo collection to a .rar folder, and timed how long it took. The P4 floundered here, with the ZNF3-250 pulling out the lowest time. Pretty impressive, considering it doesn't cheat with clock speed, and has lacking half the memory of the other rigs.

Last of the media-oriented tests is an MP3 conversion of The Tragically Hip - Phantom Power album using the DBPoweramp frontend. The disc was first ripped to WAV format on the HD, so that the CD drive wouldn't be the limiting factor. In addition, more error correction from beat up discs is possible with this method. Thanks to its "cheating" clock speed, the CK8 still achieves this tests best score.
