As most of you are undoubtedly aware, FutureMark's previous generation synthetic graphics benchmark is good for testing more than just video cards. Differences in system performance can affect the scores as well. The AOpen AK86-L absolutely dominated this benchmark. The VIA K8T800 again shows where it reaches beyond the nForce3 rivals, though it's slim over the revised 250 version.

Getting to a real world game however, the AOpen board measures right in with the rest. So much for synthetic benchmarks.

After making use of the HardOCP benchmark tool for this test, here are the results. The AOpen AK86-L has a meager advantage here over both contemporaries. That advantage in 3DMark2K1SE (a synthetic bench) doesn't translate into many gains in the real world.
