    ABIT NF7-S V2.0 - ABIT NF7-S V2.0

    Overclocking

With the BIOS corruption issue finally under control, the NF7-S is a dream to overclock. Gone are the days of nail biting while trying to tweak every last bit of performance from the nForce2. While in the benchmarks we were shooting for overall performance of the board/memory/cpu configuration, if you take the memory and CPU out of the equation (relax the timings on the memory, and drop the multiplier on the CPU), the FSB that the V2 NF7-S can achieve is astounding. When the CPU and memory are taken out, we hit the magical 250 FSB.

The NF7-S V2 is an excellent board. Even with a 'normal' cooling solution, the overclocking potential is phenomenal. With the hardware bugs all worked out with the V2, and support for 400 MHZ FSB, this is one bad ass board. I have bought almost every revision of the NF7-S (except for the 1.0), and each one has performed substantially better than the prior revision. ABIT has top notch customer service, and listens very carefully to its loyal followers. With all the bells and whistles on board (Soundstorm™, USB2, FireWire, SATA, NIC) this board is a great for for the casual user as well as the most extreme overclocker as it performs very well running bone stock or maxxed out till she screams.

    Highs

    1. ABIT's SoftMenu

    2. Excellent voltage options

    3. Excellent overclocking ability

    4. Great board for the entry level overclocker to the most advanced extremeist

    Lows

    1. Would like to see a passive heatsink on the MCP-T chip

Well, that's it quick and dirty update on the NF7-S V2. And just as V1.2 attained the Dev Hardware Essential Hardware award, so does the V2.0. If your building a top end AMD system you'll have to consider this mobo as a top choice. As always, thanks go out to ABIT and nVidia for putting up with the barrage of questions and late night phone calls. If your thinking of picking up the NF7-S, just click the link for the Pricegrabber site. As always, and comments/complaints can be thrown into the forums.
