iPad Accessory Review: PadGear Folio and the WaterGuard Waterproof Case
(Page 1 of 2 )
Continuing with the TrendyDigital accessory theme from the past, here are two more offerings from the manufacturer that can protect your iPad. Between the PadGear Folio Case and the WaterGuard Waterproof Case, you have two new items that can keep the iPad safe not only from bumps and bruises, but also harmful environmental elements.
PadGear Folio Case
The PadGear Folio Case is simplicity at its best. If you take a quick glance while it is closed, you may think it's a daily planner. In fact, you would probably not even view it as something that would carry an iPad within.
On the outside, the PadGear has a shiny exterior that looks like leather. Even though it is not actual leather, it does give off that appearance, so if you are big on looks then it should suffice. TrendyDigital offers the PadGear in your choice of a black or brown color scheme. As a matter of personal preference, the brown color scheme seems to look better, as the black one has a tendency to look a bit cheap under direct light.
You won't find any designs or patterns on the case's exterior, and that will be a plus to those looking for an unassuming carrying case for their iPad. The final exterior design feature worth noting is the pair of non-scratch zippers that help keep the case closed in a secure manner. The non-scratch nature of the zippers add some peace of mind to those who worry about damaging their beloved Apple tablets. As an added aesthetic touch, each of the zippers has a stainless steel tag.
Unzipping the case and folding it open reveals the iPad's holding compartment, which rests on the right side of the case's interior. The iPad is held in place by four elastic bands that reside at the corners. Placing and securing the iPad into the case is quite easy. Although the bands are elastic, they are stiff enough to keep the iPad firmly in place.
Perhaps the best part of this interior section is that it will not take away any of the iPad's functionality. Only the back of the device and its corners are blocked off, so you will have access to all the necessary ports and buttons. Added protection for the tablet comes in the form of soft, yet durable padding.
The PadGear's interior left side houses storage for other items you may want to carry along. You can use it to store a note pad, sheets of paper, a USB cable, and even some business cards. Meanwhile, the middle spine has a holder for a pencil or pen. Despite this added storage, the case does manage to remain streamlined and portable.
Although the PadGear Folio case is not the fanciest way to carry around your iPad, it is secure and provides enough protection to keep the tablet safe. The storage compartments are also a nice addition. The PadGear is available for $37.99.
