iPad Accessories: the Reptile Case and the RibCage Sleeve

SwitchEasy has been making electronic accessories since 2005. They currently outfit several Apple products, such as the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPod Nano, and the iPad. As somewhat of a departure from other manufacturers that sell their accessories separately, SwitchEasy often packs in several extras to give their accessories more value. This is especially true with two protective accessories for the iPad: the Reptile Case and the RibCage Sleeve. While both differ in their looks and design, each provides solid protection for the iPad as well as some other goodies to help you get the most out of the tablet.

    SwitchEasy Reptile Case

As you can probably tell from its name, the Reptile Case has a reptilian theme to its appearance. Its protective backing on the case's exterior has a special crocodile skin texture that not only looks great, but also provides an extra grip for when you are holding the iPad. The case comes in a wide variety of color schemes aimed to suit different tastes: black, tan, white, violet, and emerald.  While all of the colors are eye-catching, the tan version seems to bring out the crocodile skin texture the most, and combines both flashiness and professionalism.

Although one might think that a case that uses such a flashy exterior is all style and no substance, that is not the case here. The interior of the case protects the iPad with an adaptive dynamic soft polymer. This material is durable enough to protect the iPad from bumps and other shocks, but is also soft enough to not scratch the iPad in any way. The sides and front corners of the iPad are protected by the case's GE Lexan polycarbonate UltraFrame. While the iPad is inside the case, you will still be able to access all the important buttons, ports, and the touch-screen so that you do not lose any functionality.  Best of all, the Reptile Case is easy to install.

As stated in the introduction, SwitchEasy tends to pack extras in with their accessories. Such is the case with the Reptile. In addition to the case itself, you get two portable fold-out stands that allow you to prop up the iPad for hands-free usage. One stand is white, while the other is black. You also get a microfiber wipe for cleaning the iPad's display. For added protection, SwitchEasy also throws in an anti-static Screen Guard that goes right on top of the touch-screen. To clean the Screen Guard, a squeegee is also included.

The Reptile Case is a perfect combination of attractive design and solid protection.  Add in all of the extras, and this case is a steal at $39.99.
