Toshiba Gigabeat T400 Multimedia Player - Features
(Page 3 of 4 )
For the most part, the Toshiba T400 has a lot of the same features as its bigger brother, the Toshiba S. One feature that is lacking in the T400 is an FM tuner, but you can purchase an FM tuner as an accessory.
Toshiba makes synchronizing music and videos from your computer to your player easy with Windows Media Player 10 or higher. Acceptable audio formats include MP3, WMA, WMA lossless, and WAV, while the only accepted format for videos is WMV with a maximum resolution of 320 x 240. Photos are transferred in JPEG format. Those who already use Windows Media Player should have no problem synchronizing music and videos from their computer to this device via the included mini USB cable. The T400 is compatible with most online music websites as well, including Napster and eMusic.
One very impressive feature in the Gigabeat T400 is the integrated H2C technology, which improves the sound quality of the music. When you rip music from a computer to an MP3 player, there is always a slight loss of sound quality. What the H2C technology does is restore that lost sound quality by enhancing the bass and treble which is lost during ripping. The T400 enhances music by way of a 1-bit digital amplifier and DCTSC filter, which will work to reduce noise in audible frequencies. Experts believe that the H2C technology is what makes the Gigabeat players sound better than the iPod.

The Gigabeat T will not blow you away with its feature set. What you get with this media player is an easy to use, tough player with very good sound quality. There aren't too many frills associated with the T400, but what do you expect for just over $100?
The Gigabeat T400 is also environmentally friendly. Toshiba has constructed this player without the use of lead, mercury, and other hazardous substances. Toshiba also has a strong recycling initiative in place for all of their products. You can find out more information about Toshiba's recycling program at www.reuse.toshiba.com.
