The Samsung Mythic SGH-A897 for ATandT - Design

The design of the Samsung Mythic is attractive and similar to most touch-screen phones. The phone is solidly built and sturdy, yet portable enough to fit in your pockets. It weighs just 3.8 ounces and measures 4.49 inches tall by 2.06 inches wide by 0.5 inch thick. The phone has a glossy exterior with black on the front, some silver accents on its sides, and a stylish back plate that has a futuristic pattern printed on it in a burgundy color.

The heart of the phone’s design is its 3.3-inch touch-screen display with 360x640 resolution. The display produces excellent color and graphics and is great for viewing multimedia. The touch-screen is very responsive; you can also customize the amount of feedback it gives when you press it. There is a built-in accelerometer that automatically shifts the phone from portrait to landscape mode.

You can use the Mythic’s virtual full QWERTY keyboard for quick and easy messaging. If you want to be more old-school you can use the alphanumeric keypad, or there is even a function that will recognize your handwriting on the touch-screen and convert it to text.

The touch-screen works well with the easy-to-use interface of the phone. There are three different home screens on the Mythic that you can easily customize by dragging and dropping shortcuts or widgets. Besides the three physical controls beneath the display for the Talk, Back, and End/Power functions, the last design feature worth mentioning is the inclusion of a 3.5mm headset jack, which allows you to use your favorite standard headphones to listen to music without the need for an adapter.

The Mythic SGH-A897 is a good choice for those who want all the conveniences of home entertainment available on the go. While some may see the inclusion of live TV service as overkill, others may see it as a luxury worth having. Entertainment features aside, the Samsung Mythic provides an attractive design, plenty of practical features, and a solid touch-screen that should satisfy those with the need for something extra out of their cell phone.
