The Samsung Mythic SGH-A897 for ATandT

If you are looking for a phone that brings some entertainment value to the table, take a look at the Samsung Mythic SGH-A897 for AT&T. The Mythic combines the convenience of a touch-screen with a solid feature set that centers around entertainment by giving you plenty of options for enjoying video or music. You can get the Samsung Mythic for $149.99 after a mail-in rebate and a two-year contract with AT&T.

The basic features on the Samsung Mythic include a vibrate mode with five different vibrations, a speakerphone, an alarm clock, both a standard and tip calculator, a timer, and a stopwatch. For the globetrotting types, there is a unit and currency converter as well as a world clock. To help you keep organized, there is a calendar, a task list, and a note pad. There is even a sketch pad that you can doodle on when you are bored and share your finished product with friends via messaging.

You can store up to 2,000 contacts in the Mythic’s phone book and input multiple phone numbers, an email address, and more for each. If you are ridiculously popular and need more room for contacts, you can store an additional 250 contacts on the SIM card. You can sort your contacts into different groups and pair each with a photo and a ringtone. There are eight standard polyphonic ringtones that come on the phone, but you can download more from AT&T and use MP3s as ringtones if you wish. You can also customize the Mythic with several downloadable wallpapers and themes.

Moving up the features ladder we find stereo Bluetooth that supports hands-free kits, stereo headsets, and more. You can sync the Mythic to your PC at home, and it also supports USB mass storage and voice commands.

Other than the standard text and multimedia messaging, you can also stay in touch with friends with the Mythic’s instant messaging capabilities. Social networking fans will love the included apps for sites like Facebook and MySpace that give you quick access to your profiles so you can stay connected while on the go. The phone also has mobile email that lets you receive messages from various email accounts in an inbox on the phone.

If you like to take road trips or find yourself in unknown territory, the Mythic’s integrated GPS will come in handy. When used in conjunction with the AT&T Navigator service, the phone will give you turn-by-turn directions and data on local businesses to help you get acquainted with your surroundings.
