The Best Budget MP3 Players - Sony NW-S203

Like the RCA Jet, the Sony NW-S203 is designed to be used during any type of workout.  I must say that I favor the Sony over the RCA, because it has a few features that the RCA does not.  It is water and sweat resistant, and it can even be used in the rain.  It comes with an included arm band which is nice.  The price of this player is very reasonable at around $60; when it was introduced back in 2006 it cost about $120.

The player itself is in the shape of a cylinder, with dimensions of 3.8 x 0.6 inches, and it weighs in at only about 1 ounce.  It features a small OEL display which is easily readable, set just below the surface of the player so it is nicely protected.  The main controller is a knob at one end that controls the navigation through the various functions of the player.

The NW-S203 features a built-in G-Sensor which turns it into a pedometer, and also keeps track of calories burned. The built-in stopwatch is also cool, because it automatically stops the music when a specified time goal has been reached. The G-Sensor also offers a feature that shuffles the music when the user shakes the player three times with the LCD facing upwards; pretty cool!  Another cool feature is one that lets you create a walking playlist and a running play list.  The walking playlist will play while you are walking, and if you start running the running playlist will automatically start. This player also has a built-in FM radio with 30 presets.

This Sony supports AAC, MP3, WMA, ATRAC3, and ATRAC3plus formats.  The battery life is pretty good at 18 hours.  Charging and music transfers are done via the included USB cord.  Memory in this player is 1 GB.

The sound of this Sony is awesome, and the included ear phones are sufficient, although aftermarket ear phones will produce better sound.  This player has 5 preset equalization options including pop, jazz, heavy, custom, and normal.

I love this MP3 player, and highly recommend it for people who need a player during workouts.  It's tough to beat a player that includes an arm band, is water resistant, has great features, and sounds great.
