Sprint PCS Video Phone Shootout - Appearance

Toshiba VM4050First off, I have to mention that all three phones have quite a similar style. All three handsets have a standard flip design with the screen on the top part of the phone and the keypad on the bottom. Aside from the Toshiba, the other two are rather small and fit in the palm of your hand. Samsung phone is a bit more attractive, since the sides are nicely rounded off, and it is the smallest out of the three.

I was not a big fan of the way Toshiba looked; the phone has a crude style to it and is almost rectangular in shape. It also is slightly bigger than the other ones, the oversized screen being the major reason for that.

As far as the VM4500 goes, it resembled almost all the other standard cell phone models out on the market: not too big, not too small and with a very well designed shape.

Sanyo VM4500All of them have color displays, with a big honorable mention about the Toshiba’s screen. I would consider this screen a state-of-the-art piece for any cellular phone out there (not including the PDA models of course). The Poly-Silicon TFT display is truly amazing; it’s 240x320 pixels in size with 260,000 colors. What that means to a normal user like me and you – It is an absolute pleasure just to look at the screen whether you are scrolling through menu features, using its PIM organizer or just plain looking at pictures. Apparently the technology that was implemented by Toshiba in their Latest notebooks has made its way to their cellular phones as well.  If anyone is interested on how this technology works and the story of it, here is a link to a website that explains it all http://www.toshiba-europe.com/computers/tnt/tft/
