Moving on, let’s introduce the product package. Please check out the photos below.

As mentioned earlier, this Bluetooth hands-free headset is the first one to come with a PC application. This made it possible to download and update its software (firmware). For example, the device we are reviewing came with v2.6, but we updated the firmware to the latest version, which was v3.1. The process was smooth.

The Southwing SH505 is compatible with every mobile phone that has Bluetooth support. And thanks to the PC application and the continuously improving software versions, this ends up as forward compatible with all new mobile phones as well. Surely, this relieves a lot of stress regarding the future-proof-ness of this hands-free headset.
The package contains the following items: the SH505 headset per se, user guide, headset cord, USB data (and charging) cable, and the power supply in certain cases (particular OEM packages via resellers in Europe aren’t including this power supply [120V/60Hz], though, this doesn’t become a problem because charging is possible via the USB cable). You can see most of components in the picture above.
The design of the headset gives it a stylish and modern look. The ear bud, though not made of rubber, still has some sort of padding and is quite comfortable over extended usage as well. The hook can also be used if need be. It has fascinating features due to its “touch-sensitive” controls—the volume can be controlled just by touching its surface. Moreover, it sports the Push4™ button that is programmable.
On the next page we will take a look at the performance of the Southwing SH505.
