Southwing SH505 Bluetooth Headset
Every now and then we want to talk on the phone while driving, despite the safety recommendations, laws, and regulations that may prohibit that activity. Surely, sometimes it’s that important business or personal call you can’t miss, but more often than not, we do it just to kill some time. Today we are going to review the Southwing SH505 Bluetooth Headset.

The Southwing SH505 Bluetooth headset is basically a hands-free device. Once it pairs up with your mobile phone or PDA, you can easily take advantage of this new technology. At the time of writing it can be acquired for around US$50-80. Its official sales price is $80 but a few shops are selling it more affordably as best-deals. The SH505 was the first headset that came with a PC application—revolutionary, eh?
There are gazillions of Bluetooth-based hands-free headsets and car-kit solutions on the market. How do you know which one to choose? A writer colleague of mine, Katie Gatto, has already written an article on this topic: “Shopping Guide for Hands-Free Headsets.” It’s featured here on Dev Hardware. Check it out.
In her view, the first and foremost factor that shouldn’t be overlooked when shopping for a hands-free headset is its compatibility. In the case of the Southwing SH505, it is literally compatible with every mobile phone that has Bluetooth connectivity support. Gatto then mentions style, volume control, budget, range, and comfort. During our review we will consider these factors and try to rate the product appropriately.
Bluetooth is a modern wireless technology that allows data exchange over short distances. Right now, it’s one of the most popular technologies and almost all mobile phones support this connectivity protocol. Securely pairing all sorts of devices via Bluetooth, such as cell phones, printers, computers, PDAs, and even automobiles, is becoming quite common. It’s a fast and reliable protocol.
Now that you know what to expect, we should begin reviewing this stylish headset. First, we are going to see its overall list of specifications and features, and then we will open up the package. We are going to test and rate its level of performance, see how well it matches our expectations, and consider whether it’s worthwhile. Enough said – let’s start!
