    Sony NWZ-S738F Walkman MP3 Player - Features

Sony's new Walkman S-Series has all of the standard multimedia support that is found in most MP3 players, but it also has a number of other cool features worth mentioning. For example, the device has an excellent, static-free FM radio with an autoscan mode with 30 program slots just waiting to be filled. It's impossible to leave out the previously-mentioned and ultra-rare podcast support feature on the new Sony S-Series. This music device is actually the first Walkman to integrate podcast support, with a separate menu item completely dedicated to the function. Even more impressive, the Walkman will remember where you left off in a podcast should you exit out or turn off the Walkman unexpectedly.

Anyone who chooses to purchase the new S-Series will find a light piece of software called "Content Transfer" in the package. The Content Transfer software enables users to drag-and-drop podcasts and other media directly from the iTunes interface. The software will also transfer files from anywhere else on your hard drive. If you'd rather use Windows Media Player to manage content, that too is an option.

For those who are all about the music, you'll be interested to know that the Sony S-Series has quite a few unique yet very useful music features. First and foremost, the Intelligent Shuffle function will change the way you listen to your MP3 player. Intelligent Shuffle creates specialized listening experiences based on the year a specific song was released.

There is also the noise cancellation feature to consider. This feature, though capable of working with other headphones, works best with the included Sony earbuds. Sony has even taken things a step further by including an accessories cable which allows you to run an airplane's audio system through the player, thus permitting you to enjoy the built-in noise canceling.

Sony takes intuitive to a new level with their new S-Series' smart playlist function, affectionately titled SensMe. Essentially, this feature analyzes songs in the Walkman's library and creates playlists, not on a song-by-song basis necessarily, but rather with the intention of creating channels based on mood and time of day. For instance, examples of some of these channels include Morning, Lounge and Extreme.

It's an interesting, cool feature, though the kinks aren't completely worked out. Sometimes you'll find a song on one of the channels questionable, though for the most part this is an ideal feature for those who can't be bothered with the time consuming, sometimes tedious task of creating various playlists.
