Sony Ericsson W200i Review - Concluding Thoughts

    Concluding Thoughts

We've come to the end of this brief review. The time has arrived to draw the conclusions and therein rate the reviewed W200i phone on a scale from 1 to 10.

Summing these up, in my opinion, the Sony Ericsson W200i offers an excellent
price versus performance. It is a very solid, robust, well-built, light-weight, stylish and aesthetic, feature-laden cellular phone sporting a mediocre camera and high-end media player. All of these features are provided at a very affordable price for an entry level budget phone.

The lack of Bluetooth might turn some users off but that's fine. The lack of flash also limits the night-time shooting possibilities but that's acceptable since the shot pictures are already sub-par. Still, on a day-to-day basis it's great to have this camera included because you may never know when you'll be glad to grab out your phone and take a picture. Furthermore by transferring photos to a PC, and by eventually applying additional Photoshop touches, image quality is akin to mediocre.

The Bluetooth feature should be fixed with the promising and upcoming
    W210i.

As a side note, there is a significant lack of games on the phone and Vista support on the PC Suite CD. But these I hadn't taken in consideration because you can use the memory card as a USB stick and hook them up with files manually, and games can be purchased individually for a relatively fair price. The same goes for themes.

In conclusion, I am handing out 8 points out of 10. I must admit that because I personally was looking for a budget phone lately I have done my homework and significant research prior to purchasing. Therefore I knew what to expect  beforehand. Nevertheless, the little W200i didn't let me down. It does everything I need and even more. For most moderate users the features of this phone should suffice by all means.

Should you need a much better phone then expect to shell out far more. I can state that at the time of writing this review I couldn't find a better budget phone in this price range. You may want to purchase an extra 1GB-2GB memory card if you want to transport your audio collection on your phone. That's fine and it will cost you about $30.

In short, I absolutely recommend this phone as far as budget entry level cells are concerned. It sports almost all of its big brother's features (W800i) at a decent price. Finally the Sony Ericsson W200i wipes the floor with other rival mobile phones on the budget market. Well, not with its camera performance but hey... with the rest, yes!

Furthermore, this phone can be acquired without restrictions for around $139.98. This option works the best for pre-paid users or potential customers. On the other hand, several networks are offering a broad range of special plans and whatnot. Opting for this route, you may find that you barely need to pay for the W200i per se. If you aren't an enthusiast looking for the latest and greatest then picking the W200i is way to go.

In my country I've signed up for a 2-year plan with my network; it offered a sort of promotion that lasts just a few weeks. I chose this phone and I paid less than $50.00. However, this is based on various factors -- type of plan, additional extras, the deadlines and so forth. All in all, I've barely paid for this amazing phone due to the deal. If you are interested in this phone, you might want to check with your local mobile networks to see if they can offer you a good deal.
