Sony Ericsson W200i Review - Specifications
(Page 3 of 5 )
Specifications & Features
The cell-phone user communities were quite surprised by Sony Ericsson's ambitious support on the budget-level. It certainly isn't a common event seeing Sony Ericsson release a budget phone with a broad range of features handed down from its bigger brothers. Due to this, it's likely to dominate the budget handset range.
Let's examine its major features:
- 1.8 inch TFT display 128 x 160 pixel based on Ultra Bright Color technology.
- 0.3 mega-pixel VGA camera (640x480 pixels), 4x digital zoom;
- Walkman music player with equalizer (MP3, AAC, WMA support);
- FM Stereo Radio RDS;
- USB, GPRS (32-48kbps), WAP 2.0, (x)HTML, RSS Feeds, Infrared Connectivity;
- Polyphonic ringtones (MP3, AAC, WMA, MIDI support);
- Messaging: SMS, MMS, E-Mail, Instant Messaging;
- Other: Organizer, T9, Java MIDP 2.0, high quality image viewer, voice memo;
- Other: Vibrating alert, flight mode, VideoDJ™, Wallpaper animation, speaker;
- General Features: tri-band— GSM 900 / GSM 1800 / GSM 1900;
Size: 44x101x18 mm; Weight: 85g.
This list of features is quite amazing. Unfortunately, the phone lacks Bluetooth connnectivity and camera flash; the quality of the camera could be improved too. These are the cons for now. Also, I realize that the 0.3MP resolution sounds quite woeful, but I believe that a phone should never be a replacement for digital cameras.
All in all the W200i is very similar both in design and features to its big brother the W810i. We could state that the W200i is a lesser and reduced version of W810i. The phone's greatest forte, as I mentioned, is the ability to play back music. This being a cliche for the Walkman series, the W200i does not let the user down; especially since it sports the Sony Ericsson's MegaBass™ feature that boosts the bass tones in your music.
