SanDisk Sansa Shaker
As many of you know, I have been reviewing a lot of new MP3 players lately, without a lot of fantastic things to say, especially about the Sony Rolly MP3. So you might expect that I automatically wouldn’t like the SanDisk Sansa Shaker, as it too has its own interesting new look and low price; after all, it’s made for kids. You'd be wrong.
At the price point of $29.95, this is the perfect and ultimately disposable MP3 player that can take a lot of abuse, and even provides some interesting functionality for its target demographic of eight and older.
This product is both fun and easy to use, and just might not be strictly for children after all. It provides fun looks with great sound at a great price. In fact, I appreciate the design and development so much I may just have to go buy one for the wife, who has a bad habit of dropping our electronics on hard flooring.
SanDisk, as we all know, was founded in 1988, and is America's largest supplier of flash memory cards and storage. Keeping it simple, the Sansa Shaker is not overloaded with functionality, but does contain several features designed for the target group aged eight years and up, hence the shaker part of the scenario. In fact the product even looks a bit like a table side salt shaker and just might be the same size.
The Sansa Shaker uses this "shake" function, in conjunction with pressing the play/pause button, to swap between songs. Upon shaking, a funny sound indicates this mode is active, and then the next song takes over. What's really interesting is that you can also change the song, using small white rotating bands at the top and bottom of the product, so it seems the actual shake function is not really necessary. But there's no doubt that children will enjoy these audio functions.
