SanDisk Sansa Fuze MP3 Player Review

SanDisk continues its assault on iPod by producing low-cost alternatives to the world's best-selling MP3 players. Just because the newest line of SanDisk Sansa players are relatively inexpensive doesn't mean that they're cheap – actually, they're far from it. I think that SanDisk has managed to do a good job of balancing the thin line between price and quality, and the SanDisk Sansa Fuze is a perfect example.

The Sansa Fuze is a part of SanDisk's Sansa line of MP3 players, which also includes the Clip and the View. The Fuze fits right in the middle of these two other players in terms of price, performance, and size – it's basically a fusion between the Clip and the View (hence the name Fuze...make sense...yeah). The Fuze is in direct competition with the third generation iPod Nano, and it's definitely a formidable competitor. We'll compare the Fuze with the Nano later in this review.

The Fuze hit store shelves in April of this year, and is available in three different models: 2GB ($80), 4GB ($100), and 8GB ($130). While the price of the Fuze is relatively low, so is the amount of “advanced” features. The Fuze does not have built-in Wi-Fi connectivity or Bluetooth. But on the flip side, it plays videos, supports photos, and has an FM tuner. We'll take a look to see if the good outweigh the bad in this player, and if it's worth it to skip the iPod Nano to go with the Sansa Fuze.
