Samsung Rant Cell Phone - Performance

Recently, Nicole Lee, Associate Editor at CNET, gave a thorough review of the Samsung Rant. A screen shot of this review has been provided below.

As you may have guessed, Lee had a lot to say about the Rant. She began by talking about the phone's layout. She was impressed with the keyboard and the phone's raised buttons. Both were easy to use, even for those who might be texting.

Lee was a little "annoyed'"at the location of the micro-SD card. This is because in order to get to the card, you must remove the battery cover. However, she did note that you didn't have to remove the battery.

The rest of the review (which was not discussed on the video) concentrated on the phone's service. She said that the sound quality was superior, as there was virtually no static when she was talking to people. The speaker phone wasn't quite as effective, though callers on the other end had no problems hearing her.

As far as the Rant's wireless capabilities, everything worked well. Files didn't need much buffering and the quality was excellent for both the audio and video.

    Conclusion

In summary, the Samsung Rant is an incredible smart phone. Not only is it cheap, but it is also offers a myriad of features that are often neglected on some of the most expensive cell phones. Sure, it doesn't have a touch screen, but for many users this could actually be a plus, especially if they are used to more "old-school" electronics.

The only real down side with the phone is being forced to sign on with Sprint if you want to lock in at the $49.99 price. If you already have a cell phone plan, you might lose out as you would get charged a cancellation fee.

So, if you're looking for a cheap upgrade, look elsewhere as this phone is over $200 when you don't sign up with Sprint. However, if you do not have an existing service or you have an extra $259 to spend for a high-quality cell phone, the Rant is an excellent choice.
